We were happy to have in the 2018 Miami Book Fair, held in November. This was our very first book fair where we put up a kiosk to showcase our titles and company—and we had a grand time it. Who can dislike a fair?
A part of the experience was that we shared a booth with another company. It made for a more interesting time, led to many new friendships, and we were better off sharing than if we had taken an entire booth for our company because we both needed fewer “staff” to keep equipment and products secure, and we helped each other with the visitors to either company. If we were competitors, we didn’t notice.
The bottom line, though, is that this first (for us) book fair was a learning experience more than anything. It gave us marketing ideas and many contacts, both potential customers and suppliers. It was also a good way to pick up publishing pointers in the way of book designs and promotional techniques.
Our QP team is now looking forward to the next Miami Book Fair and other book fairs.
