Anitha Kurup, Ph.D.

Dr. Anitha Kurup is a professor and the Head of the Education Program at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bengaluru, India. She leads the National Gifted and Talented Education Program of the NIA. The program was initiated by the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser of the Government of India in 2011.

 

Eduardo Leite, Ph.D. 

Dr. Eduardo Leite, a business and management expert, began his professional life as a soccer player with such notable Portuguese football clubs as Gil Vicente, Desportivo das Aves, Feirense, Sanjoanense and Arrifanense. After retiring from professional sports he went on into business and doctoral research, focusing on management, entrepreneurship, and business finance.

Jacques Island

An experienced crisis manager, he served for six years with the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service, and he received seven commendation awards from the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) during a 20-year career as an F.B.I. Special Agent investigating drug trafficking, Russian organized crime, espionage and terrorism, and for service during emergencies as an F.B.I. crisis manager and hostage negotiator. In 1998 he was named “Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” by the U.S. Attorney in South Florida. Before his civilian career he served  six years as a U.S. Air Force intelligence officer.

Jerry F. Miller, Ph.D., Colonel, USAF (Ret.) 

Dr.  Jerry F. Miller first served in the United States Air Force as a rescue/special operations helicopter pilot. He achieved the rank of colonel before retirement from the Air Force. In addition to being an aircrew commander, he was also a resources, planning, and programming officer, deliberate plans officer, and foreign area officer for Latin America during his time in uniform.

Nathaniel Tarlow, J.D.

Nathaniel “Nate” Tarlow is an attorney and owner of the law firm Tarlow Legal Associates, LLP in Houston, Texas. His practice focuses on criminal defense, and some civil and administrative law matters. Nate’s initial working years in a Nevada casino and as a bilingual tour guide at Hoover Dam taught him the value and importance of good people skills and interacting productively with racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse people.

Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Ph.D. 

Dr. Naveen Kumar Chaudhary has been a professor of Cyber Security at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India since 2019. He is also a Courtesy Research Professor at the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University, Miami, Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Information Technology & Telecommunication Engineering and Master of Engineering degree in Digital Communication.

Niki Pissinou, Ph.D. 

Dr. Niki Pissinou, a professor and the Director of the FIU Telecommunications and Information Technology Institute, has been a champion of mentoring women and underrepresented groups in STEM throughout her active professional career. She has published over two hundred and fifty research papers in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters on her specialty areas of computer networking, telecommunications, distributed systems, mobile computing, security, and aspects of nontraditional data management.

Peter Tarlow, Ph.D. 

Dr. Peter E. Tarlow is a world-renowned speaker and expert specializing in the impact of crime and terrorism on the tourism industry, event and tourism risk management, and tourism and economic development. He was also the director and rabbi of Texas A&M Hilel for thirty years.

S. Sitharama “Ram” Iyengar, Ph.D. 

Dr. S. S. “Ram” Iyengar is currently a Distinguished University Professor and a former Director of the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences at FIU, Miami, Florida. He is also the founding director of the Discovery Lab, an undergraduate lab for mentoring students in research. Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Iyengar was Roy Paul Daniel’s Distinguished Professor and Chairman of the Computer Science department at Louisiana State University for over 20 years. During the last four decades, he has supervised and mentored over 55 Ph.D.

Tom Marrs, Ph.D. 

Dr. Tom Marrs grew up in a heavy equipment salvage yard in the small central Texas town of Rockdale. From an early age he had an affinity for the question “why?” which has driven his exploration of human behavior and commonalities in what causes people to get into life crashes.
